Never Volunteer

Hello there, well just as this blog was taking off I managed to volunteer to work on our Federal Election Campaign.
I was meant to be a liaison between groups within our electorate, however someone withdrew, some of my marketing skills were known, and now I'm the Media Officer for the whole show.  So I have been busy creating a strategy, press releases, print ads etc. etc. leaving me no time to blog and it seems the election is being called today, much earlier than originally anticipated, so this is a quick post to explain my absence, as this is not a political blog and so I won't be reporting here on what is happening. (Though there may be the odd Friday Flip-Off to reduce some steam :-))

If you've popped in for a look, might I suggest you take a wander through some older posts to see what Scrubby Bush is about.  I have started putting up Page Tabs at the top to guide newcomers to older posts, however that's a work in progress.  There's a full content list towards the bottom right hand side.  Oh and please visit some of the friends of Scrubby Bush who I trust will forgive me absence.

See you all when I can!   The photo is Merrilyn lying on an outside couch.  Yes even a kangaroo likes a bit of comfort.  I had tried to stop here with various obstacles, but she simply pushed the large folded umbrella off!   Looking forward to being able to lay back too some time soon.

  2. Well I was wondering where you were at today! Life has definitely gotten busy for you. So...i want to know, is the kangaroo just one that roams by your house or is it like, a pet? Can you keep them as pets? would you want to? She has a name, so I figured you guys are buddies. :)

  5. Hey thanks everyone for missing me, I'm touched and if there are worthwhile or funny stories I promise to bring them to you. Also re read my post, sounds as if I'm running the election! Just the media for one party in this area - the 3rd force in politics for the Aussies, they need help against the corporate dollars of the majors and I'd prefer people to be running us not corporations.

Von we'll know the date in just over an hour. I'm tipping 21st, not sure why she'd give her opposition the extra week.

Gigi, I raised Merrilyn from a furless joey - there's a post called "Merrilyn" somewhere that gives you the whole story. She is wild and free, but still treats the external areas here as hers as this is where she was raised. This photo is actually about 5 years old, so no recent furniture adventures. I see her most days and when she is sick or inured she returns to be nursed back to health. I raised a lot of kangaroos and wallabies, but for some reason she and I have a strong continuing bond.

This is my first foray into politics, so wish me luck, we know we won't win this seat, but they will certainly know we are here!

  6. Good luck with the politics... They know a good woman who can get things done! I would love to see a kangaroo on my deck any time, but I bet Squeak would freak! Glad to hear from you and have a great weekend!

  9. Ooooh, I'd say try not to work too hard but I expect my advice would fall on deaf ears. Love the photo of Merrilyn. Sweet.
